Inviting . . . we invite you to faith in Jesus Christ
Our mission is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.
Our process for carrying out our mission is to proclaim the gospel, seek, welcome and gather persons into the body of Christ.
We hope to lead people to commit their lives to God through baptism by water and the spirit and profession of faith in Jesus Christ.
We aim to nurture persons in Christian living through worship, the sacraments, spiritual disciplines, and other means of grace, such as John Wesley's practice of Christian Conferencing, or small group ministry.
Our goal is to send persons into the world to live lovingly and justly as servants of Christ by healing the sick, feeding the hungry, caring for the stranger, freeing the oppressed, being and becoming a compassionate, caring presence, and working to develop social structures that are consistent with the gospel,
And continuing the mission of seeking, welcoming, and gathering persons into the community of the body of Christ.
We believe the visible Church of Christ as a faithful community of persons affirms the worth of all humanity and the value of interrelationship in all of God's creation.
Projects of the Evangelism Ministry Team of PFUMC:
- Welcoming people into our congregation through providing training for greeters, as well as brochures and other helpful information. We want all guests to feel welcome at Pearisburg First United Methodist Church
- Following up on visitors, new residents, and others who show an interest in learning about the faith of our church.
- Providing opportunities for persons to learn about our faith through preaching, teaching, discussion and other information sharing methods.
- Making sure our church communicates with the community at large about events we plan and general information about the church, including through our website.
